Periodontal Maintenance in Bakersfield and Valencia, CA
Specialized cleanings and ongoing care designed to keep your gums healthy after periodontal treatment.

Why it is not a normal cleaning
Once periodontal disease has been treated, the pockets that remain are deeper than healthy tissue and they repopulate with bacteria faster. A maintenance visit works below the gum line, into those pockets, and it rechecks the measurements each time so that any site that is slipping is caught while it is still small.
The interval is set from your chart. Three or four months is common after active treatment, and it can lengthen when the tissue proves stable.

What happens at a visit
Pocket depths and recession are remeasured and compared against your baseline, deposits are removed above and below the gum line, the roots are cleaned where pockets remain, and any site that has changed is examined properly rather than noted and forgotten.
Where your general dentist provides part of that care, we alternate visits so that the mouth is being seen more often, not twice by the same pair of eyes.
Ask about maintenance at either office.
Your consultation includes a thorough examination, review of the necessary X-rays, and a clear explanation of what we find. We'll walk you through your options, answer your questions, and help you understand what comes next.
